Welcome to
the Tennessee River Gardens site The Tennessee River Gardens and Nature Preserve is a spectacular wildflower garden and wildlife preserve in the heart of the Tennessee River Gorge. It is dedicated to the education and enjoyment of residents surrounding the Chattanooga area. A seasonal feature is an enclosed Butterfly Pavilion in which 20 native species are exhibited. They are shown in natural habitats, during every phase of their life cycles. Open late spring to early fall, the pavilion includes eggs, larvae, chrysalis and butterfly, as well as species-specific host plants and nectar plants. The Wildflower Trail is a native wildflower and plant habitat, with trails, streams, ponds and waterfalls. More than 200 native species are clearly identified. The wildflower trail can be enjoyed at any time of the year. The Duck Habitat features more than 20 duck species, indigenous to the Southeast. Ducks remain on site and propogate into the wild. Educational instruction and staffing is coordinated through the Chattanooga Nature Center, The Tennessee Aquarium, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
